Dignified Care

We all deserve dignity when we use NHS, and care that is specific and tailored to our background, desires and needs.

The independent Commission should consider how to:

• Ensure the independence of NICE (which decides which treatments are clinically cost-effective) and screening programmes from Government pressure.

• Ensure safe staffing numbers are adequately funded so that staff aren't overstretched and can provide the dignified care that patients deserve.

• Ensuring the evidence-base and validity of targets and performance measures employed by politicians. Targets must not be introduced at the whim of Ministers without an evidence-base behind them. Patients deserve better than non-evidence based policies.
