NHS Survival has tracked down a clip from a Newsnight special from April 29th 2015 in which the Health Secretary agrees to a non-partisan commission.
In the clip MP Normal Lamb states that he is proposing a non-partisan commission, engaging professionals and public, to come up with a new settlement for the NHS and social care. The interviewer then invites the Health Secretary Jeremy Hunt and Shadow Health Secretary Andy Burnham to commit to it.
Hunt replies saying "Yes, I think absolutely...We do need to have a consensus."
This clip has become unearthed after NHS Survival has been campaigning for months for a Royal Commission, and bolsters the call for an independent cross-party commission for the NHS and social care to look at sustainable funding and safe staffing levels.
