The call for a Royal Commission from the NHS Survival team has been sent to all English MPs. Letters to all constituency representatives have been sent, and many MPs have begun replying.
This marks the completion of the first phase of lobbying, which involved asking MPs to consider an independent Royal Commission for the NHS.
NHS Survival is an umbrella group committed to ensuring a stable future for the NHS by the development of an independent multi-disciplinary commission to review how the NHS is funded and can be maintained responsibly. Letters to all MPs detailed the organisation's position, highlighting the need for inclusivity across patients, public and professional groups.
Several MPs from a cross-section of parties have already responded, and face-to-face meetings in Westminster have begun with those open to discussion.
The group aims to garner cross-party parliamentary support for an independent commission.
NHS Survival is also writing to all Royal Colleges, patient leadership groups and public interest groups to lobby for support.
