NHS Survival founding member and GP representative Dr Zoe Norris went viral this week with her impassioned plea to patients to join the call for a Royal Commission for the NHS.
Writing in the Huffington Post this week, Dr Zoe Norris laid down the reasons why patients may be feeling like their GP service isn't up to scratch.
Her piece entitled 'Dear Patients of the NHS' was published on Friday and had thousands of shares, likes and retweets within 24 hours. The piece clearly resonated with the patients and healthcare professionals alike, quickly spreading across social media.
In it she articulated the reasons why patients find it hard to get GP appointments, why A&E is always packed out, and why the government trying to force 7 day working on an already underfunded and overstretched system is dangerous for patients.
She wrote "You as a patient know this from your experiences every day. If the NHS is going to survive for the future, all of us - patients, public, professionals and politicians, need to accept that it isn't working. We need an honest discussion about its future. We need to start talking."
In response to her article in the Huffington Post, NHS Survival has seen a welcome upsurge in interest from patients, all wanting to know more and volunteering to help in the call for an independent Royal Commission for the NHS.
